Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 14, 2026
This policy explains what personal information Ninth House Studios LLC (“we”, “us”, “84beings”) collects when you use 84beings.com and its features — including the explore app and the Solar Prism AI chat — why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.
If you only want the chat-specific summary, see Section 5. The AI Chat Terms & Conditions and the general Terms & Conditions sit alongside this policy.
1. Who we are
Ninth House Studios LLC is the data controller for the personal information described here. You can reach us about privacy at hello@84beings.com.
2. Information we collect
Account and authentication. When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication data. Accounts and sign-in are handled through our authentication provider (Supabase).
Payments. When you buy something, our payment processor (Stripe) collects and processes your payment details. We do not store or have access to your raw card numbers; we receive confirmation of payment and the associated order and email.
Updates. If you sign up for updates — on the shop page, or by leaving the updates box ticked at checkout — we collect your email address so we can tell you about new 84beings.com reports and products. Every update email has an unsubscribe link.
AI chat conversations. If you use Solar Prism, we process the messages you send and the responses generated. This content is encrypted where we store it. See Section 5 for how it is handled.
Technical and usage data. Like most websites and apps, our systems and service providers automatically receive basic technical data (such as IP address, device/browser type, and timestamps) needed to deliver and secure the service. We use an error-monitoring service (Sentry) that is configured not to capture the content of your messages or request/response bodies.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. How and why we use your information, and our legal bases
Where the EU/UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:
- To provide the service you asked for (create your account, deliver purchases, run the chat, keep your conversation history) — performance of a contract.
- To take payment and keep transaction records — contract and legal obligation.
- To secure the service, prevent abuse, and debug problems — legitimate interests.
- To process belief-related and other sensitive content you choose to share in chat — your explicit consent (see Section 5).
- To read chat conversations in pseudonymized form to improve the service — your explicit consent (see Section 5).
- To send you updates or service messages you requested — consent or legitimate interests, depending on the message.
4. Who we share it with (sub-processors)
We share personal information only with service providers who process it on our behalf under contract, and only as needed to run the service:
| Provider | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Authentication and database hosting | Account, email, app data |
| Stripe | Payment processing | Payment and order details |
| Hetzner | API server hosting (infrastructure) | Data processed by the API, incl. encrypted chat content |
| Google (Gemini API) | Generating AI chat responses | Your chat messages (in plain text) |
| Resend | Sending update and transactional email | Email address, message content |
| Sentry | Error monitoring | Technical/error data (no message content) |
| Cloudflare | Site hosting and content delivery | Technical/connection data |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.
5. AI chat (Solar Prism) — how your conversations are handled
This section mirrors Section 6 of the AI Chat Terms & Conditions.
Sensitive content and consent. Chat conversations may touch on your spiritual, religious, or philosophical beliefs and other personal reflections — which can be special-category (sensitive) data. We process it only with your explicit consent, given when you agree to the chat terms, and solely to operate the chat. You can withdraw consent by stopping use of the chat and deleting your conversations; withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out.
Encryption at rest. Conversation content is encrypted where we store it, so a casual database glance or backup leak yields unreadable data.
Our AI provider. To generate replies, your messages are sent to Google’s Gemini API, which processes them in plain text. We use it under API terms with model-training use disabled, so your text is not used to train their models. The provider may retain content briefly for its own abuse-monitoring and security purposes, so deletion is not instantaneous on their side. See the provider’s own policy: Google Gemini API terms.
Pseudonymized review. To improve the chat, our operator may read conversations in pseudonymized form (account identifiers stripped) through an audited internal tool. Because you may mention identifying details in free text, this is pseudonymization, not full anonymization. This review is optional and is not bundled with the chat terms: you give a separate, explicit consent in the app and can withdraw it at any time, just as easily. Whether you allow it has no effect on your access to the chat. Your separate opt-in is the legal basis for the review.
6. How long we keep it
- Account and transaction data: for as long as your account is active and as required for legal, tax, and accounting purposes.
- Chat conversations you delete: we destroy the key that decrypts them, making them immediately unreadable to us and fully unrecoverable once aged out of backups (within roughly a 30-day window).
- Chat conversations after your access lapses: kept viewable in read-only form for six months, then permanently deleted by the same key-destruction method.
- Update emails: until you unsubscribe or ask to be removed.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email hello@84beings.com. We will respond as required by applicable law.
If you are in the EU/UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority. If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including to know, delete, and correct your information and to not be discriminated against for exercising them; we do not sell or “share” your personal information as those terms are defined.
8. Cookies and local storage
We use browser local storage on 84beings.com to keep you signed in across the site and the explore app (same-origin session). We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. Essential technical data may be processed by our hosting and security providers to deliver the service.
9. International transfers
We and our providers may process your information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for these transfers.
10. Children
Our services are for adults. The chat requires you to be 18 or older, and the site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption of chat content at rest and scoped access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we design to limit the impact of any single exposure.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The version posted here governs, and we will note the “Last updated” date above. Material changes affecting the chat may also trigger a re-consent prompt in the app.
13. Contact
